About Aberdeen Carolina and Western Railway

Aberdeen Carolina and Western Railway Co (ACWR) is the largest privately owned shortline railroad in North Carolina, headquartered in Candor, NC. The ACWR was founded in 1987 by Robert Menzies. The ACWR is 150 miles long and runs through six counties in Central North Carolina. Our Sandhills line runs from Star, NC, to Aberdeen, NC, and our Piedmont line from Charlotte, NC, to Gulf, NC.
The Aberdeen Carolina and Western Railway is served by both Eastern Class 1 carriers, Norfolk Southern and CSX. This advantage offers ACWR customers competitive rates to go along with our customizable service and our Central North Carolina location. In addition to these advantages, the ACWR has multiple transload facilities to handle all your transload needs and many rail-served sites for industrial development opportunities.
